Moses

My name is Moses and I live in Kayanzi Village in the Kasese District of Uganda. I was born of a Muslim father and a Christian mother. My dad took me to live with him and did not want me to interact with my mother because she was a Christian. I was raised as a Muslim and learned all the ways of the religion. I used to sneak to go visit my mum and spend time with her. I knew the consequences that would befall me when my dad learned of what I was doing. When my dad found out about this, I was sent to live with my mother. My dad cut all the ties that I had with him and I solely depended on my mother for everything.

My mother introduced me to church and my journey of learning Christ began. I dedicated my time to studying the word of God and participating in church activities. It is through the daily communion with Christ that the burden of my father’s rejection was lifted and I was able to forgive him. I was introduced to my Young Life leader through the church and I marvel in serving God through loving kids.

I am currently pursuing a degree in media and communications at the Bugema University. I desire to be a journalist after my graduation. As a Developing Global Leader, I would like to bring change to my community. I plan to continue to share the love of Christ with Muslim kids in my community and bridge the gap that has always been there. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
