Joshman

Joshman lives in Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines, with his father, brothers, and sister. Joshman’s family has been through one heartbreak after another which has refined their faith and caused them to grow. As a young boy, Joshman’s family faced a financial crisis on the heels of an emergency appendectomy for Joshman. Years later, Joshman’s younger brother died at age five due to complications with diabetes. Only one year following, Joshman describes, “the ultimate heartache occurred, the one who we loved the most was gone, my mother died. I was so devastated because I loved my mother, she was my everything.” Upon graduating from high school, Joshman was forced to work two jobs to help support the family as his father could no longer work in the same capacity due to illness, but he never fully set aside his dream to graduate from university.

Changed forever by the hardships he encountered, Joshman devoted his life to God, knowing that it was only in surrendering his life circumstances to God that he could find rest and peace. Eventually, he connected to Young Life through a few friends and was so happy to be a part of something that brought him such joy.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Joshman’s vision is to finish his studies in computer science at a local university and to get a stable job in programming and achieve his dreams to help other people. In the DGL program, he wants to become the best version of himself and continue growing in his leadership and ministry skills. He will be the first in his family to graduate from university.
