My name is Christian and I live in Mutakura with my mother and siblings, I was born in a family of six. Throughout my childhood, we were a happy family with both parents and also grandparents. I navigated high school without any problems and my parents were so proud of what I was accomplishing. Things changed when my father grew ill; for two years all our efforts were on him, and my mother ceased working to care for him. We tried to manage the situation but when he passed away, things grew even more complicated until I got a job tutoring students in order to help provide for my family.

During that difficult time, I went to church with my friend and heard the gospel. I joined Young Life, and it was amazing for me to see boys and girls singing and dancing and full of joy. I started attending campaigners sessions which were so helpful for me to grow up in my faith. I grew in my self-confidence and leadership skills and God gave me a servant’s heart.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am attending Light University and studying civil engineering. My vision after my studies is to use my engineering knowledge as a tool for further developing our society. I hope to achieve my dreams of changing the style of doing things in engineering in Burundi; many times, we are strong in theory but not practice and consequentially have poorly constructed roads and buildings. My ministry passion is to help my leaders grow up spiritually and also acquire a thirst for knowledge that will help them in their life. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
