Jennifer Ese Edumah

My name is Jennifer. I live in Mankessim, Ghana, with my mother, two brothers and stepfather. My mother raised me as a single mom. Things were not easy for us because my mom was in school while taking care of us. This made me lose hope for a future education after high school. I used to hold onto bitterness against my father because he abandoned us, but through the Young Life ministry, I was moved to ask God to help me forgive him. God has now given me love for others, including my father. Another experience that shaped my faith was getting attacked and robbed when I went out with friends. The attackers took all of our belongings and money. This has motivated me to be a leader and not a follower of my friends.

I came to know the Lord in 2018. I felt His presence and heard His voice within me and felt directed to open my Bible. It was at this moment that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It has not always been easy as I have been persecuted religiously for my faith in Christ. However, I was able to get connected to Young Life through my mother who was already involved. She asked me to join, and I am now a Young Life and WyldLife leader.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying procurement and supply chain management at the University for Development Studies in Nyakpala, Ghana, Tamale campus. I want to become a procurement officer in an organization for Ghana health services. I also want to use this opportunity to tell my friends about God’s great love and to continue to grow as a Young Life leader in my community.
