Angelina

Angelina is an intelligent and resilient young woman from Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique. Angelina is one of the eldest of ten children and her early childhood was full of life until age nine when her parents divorced. While she didn't fully grasp the impact then, she later realized the need for both parents as a teenager. Angelina and her sister eventually went to live with their father, and her stepmother's presence made life challenging, but she drew strength from being close to her father and sister.

Her faith journey began in high school through Bible studies with her Young Life leader, the area director for Maputo. Angelina shares, “I was at a place where I found myself with practically no one to listen to me and no one to understand what I was going through. I walked with my head down and tried to understand the 'why' of my existence.” She was won over through the warm, non-judgmental guidance and unconditional love she experienced at these bible studies, and she decided to become a leader.

Angelina is attending the University of Eduardo Mondlane and planning to study business but also has a passion to teach others. With her studies ahead of her, Angelina is excited to be the first in her family to graduate from university. As a Developing Global Leader, she reflects, “I can't wait for more training, both in school and ministry, so that I can use those skills to serve those in my home, my neighborhood, and my country”.
