Solo

Solo (name changed for security reasons) is a faithful young man from Mali. Orphaned from a young age, he and his three younger brothers were cared for by their grandparents until he was given the opportunity to live and go to school at a mentor’s orphanage and then adopted. Once enrolled, Solo was driven to excel in both his schoolwork and opportunities to give back and serve within the school. As he grew, so did his capacity to teach and assist others. He invested all that he could into his brothers, trying to share with them the love of God and stand in the gap to offer the support of their late parents.

Solo accepted Jesus while living under the care of his adopted mother. Grateful for what his mother did for him, he shares, “I want to be the person by whom God exercises his justice of love towards the voiceless and powerless people in my community.” One of the team leaders in Solo's community describes him as, "a very helpful person, funny and adaptable and always available for ministry.”

Now a Developing Global Leader, Solo is fulfilling a lifetime goal of pursuing a degree in business and economics at a local university in a major city. He expresses, “My vision and my goals for the DGL program are to study and give the best of myself. I want to be an example to others of a man of God and help my community flourish.”
