Sophy

My name is Sophy, but my friends call me Galacha. I live in Migori in southwestern Kenya with my sisters and mother. My dad divorced my mother when I was a small kid and that affected me mentally while growing up. I used to envy my friends who had their fathers present and would always pray to God to restore our family.

I joined Young Life club in high school and started participating in their activities. This became family to me. Our club leaders became our father figures who nurtured and loved us unconditionally. I am always thankful to God for my leaders. I now serve my teenagers wholeheartedly knowing that most of them crave what I wanted as a teenager. I would love to be there for them at all times.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying information communication technology at Kiriri Women's University. I want to be a data analyst after my graduation. I will be the first person in my family to attend university and would love to pave the way for my sisters too. I am very determined to inspire and empower women in my community, as I continue to journey with teenagers and spread the love of Christ to them.
