Meet Redempta, a kind-hearted, natural leader from a village outside of Ngororero, Rwanda. Redempta is a Developing Global Leader’s scholarship recipient studying business and economics at Inesi Ruhengeri University. Growing up, Redempta lived in a very underdeveloped rural place, therefore she and her two brothers received government aid to go to school. When the government stopped helping pay for their schooling, her two brothers dropped out, but she stayed and finished high school thanks to an uncle stepping in to provide financially.

Redempta’s story with Jesus started a year after meeting her Young Life leader at her school. She attended church throughout her childhood, but her dedication to her family was the compelling force. However, through her involvement with Young Life, her eyes were opened to the saving love of Jesus and her faith began to grow. Now, Redempta is actively pursuing ministry in her neighborhood and filling a gap of leadership for females in her community, hoping to be an example that many girls can follow in the future.

Redempta will be the first in her family to graduate from university. She shares, “I thank God for the DGL program and the support that has communicated so clearly that I am loved and considered. I am so grateful to live out a dream I never thought would be realized.” After graduating from university, Redempta dreams of breaking the stereotype that educated people do not need to love or rely on Jesus and trusts that God will increase her faith as she relies on Him.
