Marta

My name is Marta, I was born in the United States where I lived for six years. Afterwards my family moved around often until we finally found the perfect place for us in Poland. Now, my parents and my six younger siblings and I live in a small town just outside of Warsaw, called Milanówek. Throughout most of my life I was homeschooled; moving frequently, I quickly learned how to fit in with new groups of kids, assimilate with the culture and get acclimatized to our environment in a short time, until my family moved again. These experiences helped me become very understanding, curious and more resilient to adversity.

Even though I was religious for as long as I can remember, my faith matured and became more intentional during my teenage years. I am very thankful for the people that I was surrounded by, including my Young Life leaders. They helped me rediscover my faith and although those years held seasons of struggle, their support inspired me to not give up on the journey. I quickly became engaged in Young Life as a volunteer and then as a leader, inspired to give back a fraction of what I received and helping with the mission of loving lost teens.

Now, a Developing Global Leader, I am going to the Maria Grzegorzewska Academy to study social sciences specializing in pedagogy rehabilitation. I hope to be engaged in places where children and teenagers can be given the support they need to improve the quality of their lives. I believe that Young Life's mission aligns with my calling because I know that introducing young people to Jesus is the best thing that I could ever offer them.
