Nguyen

My name is Nguyen and I was born and raised in a large city in Vietnam, into a God-fearing family. When I was young, my family's finances were not very stable because both of my parents worked manual labor. Throughout most of my childhood, we lived in a house that my father built with his own hands, which he upgraded many times over the years to make our family more comfortable.

I have known about Jesus from a young age through stories my parents told me, but my first experience of Jesus was when I started reading the Bible. I got a better understanding of how Jesus changed people through His miracles, His sermons, and most importantly, His sacrifice on the cross. I began to walk with the Lord firmly when I participated in stage productions that were held at the church during summer camp, Christmas and Easter. Through acting, I felt the privilege of sharing that story in a way that so many can understand. Through ministry with Young Life, I continue to use my God-given gifts to help young people meet Jesus.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying chemical engineering at a local university. In Vietnam, the demand for chemical engineers is very high, so this is my career goal. I want teens to know that God is always there to help them through loss and hardship and believe that God does impossible things, just as He is enabling me to do the impossible by becoming the first in my family to attend university.
