Fernando

Fernando is an enthusiastic young man who lives in Managua, Nicaragua with his family of six. He remembers his childhood fondly; Fernando enjoyed school, art and playing guitar and was especially impacted by his involvement in sports, recognizing now the discipline and persistence it taught him.

Raised in the church, Fernando knew about God from an early age, but he began a personal relationship with Jesus after going to Young Life camp. He wrestled with personal and family problems during his teens years which compelled him to look for a resounding change in his life. He shares, “I connected with Young Life and began to grow deeper in my faith. The opportunity to be mentored through high school taught me so much and offered guidance for struggles and big decisions I faced in my life.”

Now a Developing Global Leader, Fernando’s vision for the future is to graduate from Central University of Nicaragua as a psychologist. He is determined to learn English to help equip him in both ministry and his career. He wants to grow and strengthen his leadership skills, in order to reach kids and develop committed leaders in his community. When asked about the significance of being in the DGL program, Fernando shared, “It will have a great impact since I will be the first in my family to graduate from university. This will change my future and provide resources and knowledge that I never imagined was available to a person like me.”
