Isaiah Luis

Isaiah is a kind and hardworking young man from a suburb of metro Manila in the Philippines. He encountered many challenges as a kid, most significantly, his family moved continually due to the inability to afford housing. Eventually, they settled with his grandmother and shared a home with an aunt and cousins. In spite of the financial challenges, Isaiah reflects that his family taught him the importance of a good attitude in the face of difficulty and the value of integrity and actions of character.

Isaiah was raised by his parents in the church and knew Jesus from a young age. However, the catalyst for change happened when he joined a youth organization through church and his faith began to grow deeper. Through the encouragement of his relatives, he joined Bigkis, Young Life in the Philippines, and eventually became a leader. Isaiah is especially compelled to walk with teens as they emerge from the isolation of the pandemic, and hopes to reveal the belonging they have in Jesus as they search for identity and community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Isaiah attends Jose Rizal University and is studying pre-law. His vision for the future is to graduate and go straight to law school. He shares, “I am excited for this journey, but I know it will take perseverance and many years to achieve. I want to set short-term goals and be able to fulfill my dream. Together, with the leadership and ministry opportunities through the DGL program, I am depending on God and His guidance as He reveals the path ahead.”
