Daisy

My name is Daisy and I live in Holywood, Northern Ireland, with my mum and dad and two brothers. Growing up, I was always very anxious and introverted when it came to certain things. I hated sports days and people coming to watch me, I pretty much got anxious about anything or any event that put me in the spotlight. My years at primary school were filled with anxiety.

I’ve been so fortunate to grow up in a Christian family. We were taken to church every Sunday and were involved in all the clubs we could go to in church; I have been a Christian from a young age. The summer going into first year of secondary school, my church took a group of us away to a youth conference where I experienced worship like never before. It was during that summer where I felt seen and loved by God and compelled to give Him my anxiety; what a pivotal time in my life. Through serving with Young Life, I have become so aware of every good gift from the Lord and He has become so tangible in my life. I love the opportunity to walk closely with teenage girls, fully acquainted with their struggles and able to encourage them that God is near and loves them.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am pursuing an honors biomedical science degree from Queens University Belfast. For future career plans, I would like to get involved in something medical related, whether it be research based or more practical based. I’m not too sure as of yet where university will take me, but I know I’ll always be wanting to be working around children. After university, I would love to travel for mission work overseas, that’s the dream. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
