Morris

Born during a prolonged civil war, Morris and his parents fled his home country of Liberia to seek exile in Sierra Leone until peace returned in 2004. Morris has had to overcome the challenges of insecurity and standing on his own as the only Christian in a Muslim family, while desiring to remain humble and be an example of Jesus in his home and community.

Afflicted again by hardship during the Ebola crisis in his country in 2015, Morris met Jesus after an invitation to a revival at one of his friends' churches. At the end of the week, Morris accepted Jesus for the first time as his Lord and personal Savior. He got involved with Young Life when a leader invited him to club and later to their outreach camp. Morris shares, “my journey with Jesus has been very good, even though some of my siblings have rejected me and cut some support from me, but through the help of God, I see Jesus at work in a wonderful way.” Morris continues to hone his leadership skills while acting as the area director in his community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Morris’ vision and hope for his education is to acquire a bachelor degree in economics and become an international economist. He wants to advance the economic development of Liberia through the knowledge he acquires while attending the African Methodist Episcopal University. He hopes that the leadership opportunities gained through the DGL program will help him show the Christian leadership style of Jesus throughout the workplace.
