Lucie

My name is Lucie and I am from Soignies, a small city in Belguim. I had a great childhood; I went to school and had a lot of friends. I studied English at a young age and really enjoyed that. My parents were still married during my childhood and I had a good relationship with both my parents and my sister. My parents got divorced when I was in high school. That time in my life was extremely difficult and I was forced to learn things in a way I never expected. However, I have seen the good from it as I have learned about forgiveness and grown closer to God.

I grew up in church and remember knowing things about God. However, I gave my life to Jesus at a Christian summer camp when I was about twelve years old. In that moment, I knew that I really wanted to have a deeper relationship with him personally and wanted to be a part of his family. Shortly after, my uncle, who was a leader, invited me to Young Life ski camp promising new friends and fun; it did not disappoint. Since then, I’ve been following God while He guides me through the highs and lows in my life.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am attending Haute Ecole Defré in Brussels. As a youth social worker, I would like to help teenagers by simply spending time with them or providing the resources they need to flourish. I am anxious to further develop my leadership skills and grow in my ministry with Young Life kids in Belgium. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
