Miluska

My name is Miluska. I live in Cusco, Peru, with my mom and my two sisters. When I was a child, I had many fears and did not like to talk because I was very shy. I felt lonely and was very insecure of myself because I grew up without a father figure after my father left home when I was very young.

I was evangelized by a woman I met while playing outside with a friend when I was twelve years old. She taught me a lot about Jesus and took me to church, where I eventually served as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. From that time on, I understood that I was never alone. When I was twenty-five years old, my younger brother died and I grew to depend on God more than ever before. I can see now how God strengthened my family through the loss and adversity we faced together.

Three years ago, the pastor of my church introduced me to a Young Life leader. I was amazed at the work they did with young people! I am grateful God gave me the opportunity to find the ministry of Young Life.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying psychology at Continental University. While in this program, I hope to train more young people so that the leadership of Young Life grows in the city of Cusco opening new clubs for university students and teenagers. I hope to use my leadership skills as I help young people with their mental health, focusing on their well-being and social development. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
