Tania

My name is Tania. I live in Chimoio, Mozambique, with my parents & 4 brothers. I am the 2nd oldest of my siblings. My childhood was challenging because my father was an alcoholic. He worked, but we were hungry and there were daily. Another challenge has been my heart condition without a clear diagnosis. My condition caused delays in school, leading to absences, failing and harassment. My parents even tried to send me to witches to heal me. Thankfully my mother no longer believes in witchcraft and is now one of my biggest prayers partners over my health. My heart pain has decreased which has come from trusting God by giving everything to Him and receiving encouragement from my Young Life leaders and Christian friends.
My relationship with Jesus began in 2015 at a Young Life camp. I have been constantly pointed to His Word during the clubs and Bible studies I have attended. I am also involved at my church where I serve and lead. My relationship with the Lord has not been without its challenges, but God has taught me to depend on Him daily. I now lead a Young Life club and women’s ministry in my city. I love being with my young girls and guiding them in their walks with Jesus.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying agriculture at the Catholic University of Mozambique. I will be the first person in my family to graduate college. With my degree, I hope to open a farm where I can provide employment for young people in my community. I also want to continue growing as a leader of women and keep making disciples around me, especially at my university.
