Chipo

Chipo grew up in a small city called Masvingo, Zimbabwe, where she lived with her family and attended her first years of school. Upon the death of her father in 2017, Chipo, her mother and two younger siblings, moved to the capital city Harare, where they live in a small unfinished dwelling without electricity. Chipo shares, “I faced many challenges when my father died; it was a tough time for me to be isolated from my extended family and feel alone with the absence of my father.”

Prior to moving to Harare, Chipo attended Young Life club and began learning about Jesus. Eventually, she received Christ in 2018 during an Easter conference where the speaker preached about the love of God and seemed to speak it over her and her family. It was then that everything just fell into place and Chipo received Jesus as her Savior. Later, Chipo became involved in Young Life in her community where she is now a team leader.

A recipient of a Developing Global Leaders scholarship, Chipo is in the business school at Harare Polytechnic University and is studying banking and finance. “With my studies, I intend to be a good steward of the things God gives me by not just holding onto them, but by growing them into more so that I may be a pillar to those around me. I don’t want to just pray for my friends and family, rather I want to also provide for them in their time of need and help them establish themselves. When I have financial stability, I want to not just give the fish, but teach others to fish while ensuring their growth in our greatest leadership example, Christ our Savior.” Chipo will be the first in her family to graduate from university.
