Gad

My name is Gad. I live in an outlying community of Accra, the sprawling capital city of Ghana. My parents never married one another and I am their only child. They married different spouses and I spent time with both families. I was especially happy living with my dad and step mum until I was enrolled in a boarding school for five years, beginning from a very tender age. In spite of many transitions and financial hardships, I persevered to finish secondary school.

I grew up in a strong Christian family. My step-mother always took me to church with her which is how my life with Christ began. I was taught about Jesus and His Word and saw countless prayers answered, strengthening my prayer life and deepening my faith. Through Young Life, I have also seen the Lord grow my relationship with Him, changing me from the inside out. I was once very quick tempered, which caused me to lose many opportunities and strained my relationships, but joining Young Life and becoming a leader has changed everything and helped me grow.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying public administration at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. With my degree, I want to improve my communication and human resource skills while helping my family, community and country progress. I am growing in my leadership skills and being transformed into the man God created me to be as I serve and cultivate new ministry in my community.
