Anastácio

My name is Anastacio and I am from Mozambique, Africa. I grew up with my parents and four sisters. My childhood was full of good times with my family, but also filled with hardship as we struggled financially to provide even our most basic needs. When I was fourteen, my father got in trouble with his job and ran away from home never to return, leaving me, the sole male in the family, to carry the burden of helping my mother.

When I was in high school, I was invited to Young Life club and campaigners. Although I moved a few times during high school, I always stayed involved with Young Life. When I moved to Nampula, a high-density area where over 90% of the population is Muslim, I learned how to have a heart for God and to obey His word. I was compelled to share the Gospel with those around me and I learned how to lead others and follow God's path myself.

As a Developing Global Leader, I will be attending Polytechnic University to study electrical engineering. I have experience with working with electricity, and often was able to help provide for myself through jobs helping neighbors in my community. I am excited to have the opportunity to learn more about electrical engineering and be equipped with the knowledge to advance my career. I will continue to lead Young Life in my community and teach students about Jesus.
