Arthur

My name is Arthur and I live with my mother in a small apartment in Yerevan, Armenia. As a young boy, I remember being a very happy child. However, everything changed when my father left the country and never returned. My mother toiled relentlessly to provide for us, trying desperately to fill the gap my father left in our home.

In high school, one of my friends invited me to play volleyball, where I met Young Life leaders who invited me to camp. I first heard about Jesus during summer camp in 2017; the Word of God immediately touched my heart and I decided to commit my life to following Jesus. My mother was against me being in Young Life, serving God and reading my Bible, but I showed my mom the love of God, eventually evangelizing her with my good testimony. After accepting God and deeply understanding His forgiveness, I realized that I should forgive too and I forgave my father. My relationship with God became my rock as I entered the army and went to war. I felt truly alone with God and was overwhelmed by His presence, security, and protection.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying engineering and computer science at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. I want to become a programmer and benefit from the ample opportunities for freelance work. This profession will not only help me improve my family’s standard of living, but also provide me with the flexibility to continue serving with Young Life. I am committed to contribute to my community through ministry, both as a volleyball coach and a Young Life leader, always looking for ways to get acquainted with new kids be in touch with them. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
