Blessing

My name is Blessing and I am from the city of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. I am the baby out of six children and was raised by my mother after the death of my father when I was young. In spite of the grief, navigating life with a single parent allowed me to learn to have responsibility and focus from a young age.

I attended church my whole life, but never understood what going to church meant as a child. In high school, I began to go down a rough path of skipping classes and other bad habits. My older sister invited me to Young Life club. It was in Young Life that I met other people my age that had similar stories to mine and I began to find community centered around Jesus. I have learned to face my burdens with Jesus by my side, and how to be there for others as they face their own trials.

As a Developing Global Leader, I will be studying electrical engineering at the National University for Science and Technology in Zimbabwe. My country and community are in need of innovative thinkers like myself to help grow the economy and infrastructure. I aim to become an electrician while remaining involved with Young Life and furthering my relationship with Christ through showing other young men like myself that they can achieve their dreams regardless of their background.
