Kieran Agatha

My name is Kieran. I am from a large family consisting of eight children, of which I am the third born and eldest daughter. We moved often throughout the large metropolitan area of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, for my father’s work as a social worker. My parents’ lives revolve around helping people - spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. I have been deeply impacted by their example of service and given many opportunities to join them, shaping me into who I am today.

I grew up in a Christian Catholic family with my mom and dad teaching and guiding us to live as Christ lived. I was introduced to Young Life club through my older brother who was a Young Life leader. My faith further transformed, when my mother became so ill that it almost claimed her life. We prayed fervently and she regained consciousness; it was that moment where I knew that nothing is impossible with Jesus Christ. Being a Young Life leader has given me the opportunity to share that hope with countless teens in my community.

Exposed to suffering and injustice throughout my childhood, I decided long ago that I wanted to become a lawyer. Now as a Developing Global Leader, I am attending Uganda Christian University and have the opportunity to be the first in my family to graduate from university. I want to fight for truth and integrity in all levels of power and become a voice for the voiceless.
