Benjamin

My name is Moulo Benjamin and I live in the city of Grand-Bassam in the Ivory Coast with my guardians and their children. I am the last and fourth child of my family and I lost my father at the age of eight when I was in third grade. From that moment, the difficult life opened up to me where my mother did not have the financial means to help me go to school, however, she used her small fields of tubers and vegetables to feed me. To support my studies, I was obliged to conduct lucrative activities; so, I worked as a masonry at the miner's shop. It was a tumultuous life. One of the most difficult life decisions was to leave my family and live with guardians at the end of primary school to support my general studies. I have known Christ since I was five years old, but I accepted Him as Lord and Savior at the age of sixteen. Within my church, I hold substantial positions where I am a cantor, youth advisor and choirmaster. I encountered Young Life's ministry in 2017 when I entered high school, it was a joy to participate in Young Life ministry activities and I certainly thrived in that environment. My commitment to my church and my love for the work of Young Life has kept me courageous.

Without this Developing Global Leaders opportunity, I would not have the chance to advance my studies. I am extremely joyful for my future as a Spanish student at Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny Abidjan because I much prefer to express myself in the Spanish language than other languages. Additionally, Spanish is the second most spoken language all over the world, however, interpreters and translators in Spanish are very insufficient. My goals for this career are to become one of the greatest interpreters and translators in my country while being available to those around me and to tell them the Good News which is Christ while serving in Young Life.
