Angelica

Angelica lives in the Colombian city of Ibagué with her parents and two sisters. Surrounded by a large extended family, and raised by two loving parents, Angelica has been greatly impacted by the consistent presence of family in her life. Her parents became Christians when she was two years old; therefore, she grew up in a home that spoke often of a relationship with God. She believes that her involvement in the church from a young age consistently revealed the love and mercy of God and planted the idea that she, too, could one day be used by God. At age sixteen, Angelica became involved in Young Life and began to earnestly seek God’s will for her life and grew tremendously in her faith. For the first time, Angelica believed that God had a calling on her life and that she was a “useful tool in His hands.” As a Young Life leader, Angelica is using her gifts of listening and empathy and hopes to create opportunities to share the Gospel with as many teenagers as possible in Ibagué.

As a Developing Global Leader, Angelica is pursuing a degree in environmental law at the University Externship of Colombia. Angelica hopes to be able to advise companies on the use of natural resources by aiding in their process of obtaining licenses and permits and helping them follow the regulations of Colombian legislation. A little-explored and regulated field in her country, Angelica aspires to contribute to the environmental policies being created and implemented in Colombia. Additionally, as a part of the DGL program, Angelica wants to further lean into the calling of God on her life and grow in her leadership and ministry skills as she shares the Gospel with teens in her community.
