Rebecca

Rebecca is a relational and adaptable young woman from Grand Bassam, Côte d'Ivoire. An only child in a Christian family, Rebecca and her parents maintained a loving home in spite of many hardships including illness and poverty. At age thirteen, Rebecca suffered from extreme illness to the point of being declared dead; however, she miraculously recovered to full health, causing even the doctor to believe in the healing power of God. It was this experience that forever marked Rebecca and caused her to place her full faith in God, knowing without a doubt, the power and grace of God. Rebecca has continued to face heartbreaking loss in the recent death of her mother. Bolstered by the love and support of her Young Life family, Rebecca continues to grow in her faith and is compelled more than ever to be a light that shows the love of Jesus to teenagers.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Rebecca is pursuing a degree in journalism at Multimedia School of Abidjan. She aspires to have influence over the messages communicated to her community through television, dreaming of having her own television show for children where she can share about Jesus and be a source of joy and happiness. As a part of the DGL program, Rebecca will be mentored and trained in leadership and ministry skills and wants more than anything to be about the ministry of loving kids. Rebecca will be the first person in her family to graduate from college.
