Fatu

Fatu is a patient and passionate young woman from Freetown, Sierra Leone. Her parents raised her and her five siblings to know and obey the word of God and to love the Lord. Fatu’s family has endured sickness as well as seasons of joblessness and poverty. These challenges have deepened her faith and taught her to trust the Lord fully for his healing and perfect provision. Fatu first heard about Young Life in high school when she was invited to club. Now she is a team leader for a club in her community, as well as a volunteer with a Young Lives club.

Impacted greatly by the Ebola epidemic in her country, Fatu and her community were subjected to rigorous standards and procedures in efforts to stave off the disease, including country-wide lock-downs. Through this experience, Fatu saw the value of logistics and procedures and recognized the need in her community to be equipped with similar skills for day-to-day life, as well as for improved job performance. Fatu is pursuing a degree is procurement and logistics at the Institute of Advanced Management and Technology. “She is ambitious about character change and community development. She is enduring and motivating to others and loves establishing good relationships.” Fatu will be the first person in her family to graduate from college.
