Gebhard

Gebhard is an easy-going and communicative man from a large capital city in Central Asia. He currently lives with his parents and two of his five siblings. They are a tight-knit family. Gebhard is especially close to his three brothers, remarking that, in spite of the large age gaps, the four of them function as a team. He grew up in a Christian family and his grandfather was a founding member of his church; however, when he was fourteen, Gebhard met God personally at youth camp. This experience strengthened his faith and his relationship with God went from being something his parents believed to his own personal and life-changing faith. Gebhard continued to grow and serve in his church, investing in teenagers and playing a vital role in the youth ministry. After an invitation by a friend to go to Young Life, he saw the mission to reach unchurched kids and immediately knew it was something his community needed.

Now a Young Life Developing Global Leader, Gebhard is pursuing a degree in management at a business university. Gebhard shares that he loves working in the field of project management and also enjoys learning how to better manage people. “In my opinion we have problems with communication between managers, mediators and executors. I want to be a part of this system and bring order to communication.” He is excited to apply these skills to both his career as well as his ministry. Gebhard is passionate about ministry and is always examining how to improve communication, initiate team building, and set goals to reach the next teenager with the Gospel. As a part of DGL, Gebhard has been exposed to the breadth and depth of the ministry of Young Life and loves being a part of not only his local team of leaders, but a part of God’s team in a global ministry.
