Servilien

Servilien, who usually goes by Tiakou, lives in a rural commune of Haiti called Bombardopolis. Orphaned at age three when his parents died, Tiakou was taken in by a family as his guardian and given room and board in exchange for work around the home. His responsibilities at home resulted in little time for school work, often leaving him to do homework through the night and battle against exhaustion at school. His adoptive parents now deceased, Tiakou lives with their three grown children in a small home with no access to public electricity or purified water. Though Tiakou was raised in a Christian home, he never made a decision to follow Christ until an evangelist came to his door and shared the Gospel with him. Tiakou made a decision right there to give his life to God. Around this time a friend invited him to Young Life, where he grew in his faith and was trained as a leader. Tiakou is passionate about building relationships with kids and telling them about the love of Jesus.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Taikou is pursuing a management degree at Universite Quisqueya with the hopes of developing his construction skills into a business of his own. He has a vision to share the knowledge he acquires about business so that he can be a resource and an encouragement to others as they seek to build their own businesses. Taikou will be the first person in his family to graduate from college.
