Emmanuel T.

Emmanuel is a teachable and hard-working young man from a rural area near Tubmanburg, Liberia. He grew up with his parents and five siblings, one of whom has since died, and now lives with his grandmother in a small hut. As a child, Emmanuel recalls struggling with diligence in his schoolwork, which resulted in a great deal of physical conflict with his father, causing him to question his father’s affections. As he grew older and gained perspective, Emmanuel recognized his Father’s actions stemmed from a desire for Emmanuel to have new opportunities that were never available to himself.
Emmanuel grew up in a predominantly Muslim community and all he knew about was the prophet Mohammed. An invitation to club provided the first opportunity to hear about the person of Jesus. During a week at Young Life camp, the fullness of the Gospel unfolded before Emmanuel and began to do a deep work in his heart. Emmanuel shares that he now knows that, “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life,” and he is committed to spend his life sharing this Good News with teenagers in his community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Emmanuel is pursuing a criminal justice degree at the Bomi Community College. His goal is to deliver justice in his community without partiality or inconsistency, but rather, with integrity and humility. Within the DGL program, Emmanuel wants to graduate with honors, grow in his faith, and further develop his leadership and ministry skills as he points kids to Jesus. Emmanuel will be the first person in his family to graduate from college.
