Eric

Eric is a faithful and intelligent man from the small township of Paynesville, Liberia. He lives with his parents, three siblings, and other relatives. In addition to repercussions of civil unrest in his country during his adolescent years, Eric and his family have encountered many struggles financially, all leading to a lifetime of battling poverty and considerable delays in Eric’s schooling. Eric grew up attending church with his family, but it wasn’t until a period of spiritual and physical attack that he experienced the nearness of Jesus and placed his faith in him. The opportunity to be a team leader with Young Life has taught him servant leadership and how to wait on God’s timing.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Eric is fulfilling his lifelong dream of pursuing an electrical engineering degree at the University of Liberia. Eric chose this field of study after living a lifetime in darkness without electricity, knowing firsthand the disadvantages and challenges many people in his country face. Eric wants to “invest his time and energy into bringing his country into the light and dreams of being the leading electrical engineer in his country and being a catalyst for change in the electrical sector.” Eric will be the first person in his family to graduate from college.
