Norling Josue

My name is Norling. I live with my mother in Managua, Nicaragua. My father died when I was a baby. My community suffered drugs and abuse. Another hard part of my childhood was the absence of my father and not understanding why God took him and could not fix him. I struggled with the feeling that I was not enough and that I should take my life. I tried to commit suicide and found myself begging God to help me. He answered me at that moment. My life felt like an endless void, but Jesus transformed me. Now, I want to help others in need of rescue. My walk with Jesus has healed me and my family.

My grandmother’s life influenced my faith. Through the death of her son, she showed me that faith and belief in God can exist even when illness, problems or death come into our lives. God then transformed my heart when I hit rock bottom and tried to take my own life. Now, my faith is my greatest strength. I attend a church I have attended since I was 14 years old and help with the youth there. I also encountered Jesus at Young Life camp. A friend on Facebook told me about Young Life, and I was able to go to camp. I am now leader in a club that I started and am starting another club in the area where my grandmother lives.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am studying business and economics, with an emphasis in marketing. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university. I want to use my degree to start my own business. I want to become an Area Director and continue my ministry with Young Life.
