Erick Fabian

My name is Erick Castillo, I live in the city of Masaya, in a neighborhood called Silvio Reñazco, it is a calm neighborhood during the day, but at night it is a little dangerous. I grew up in a dysfunctional family, surrounded by many problems, abuse from my father towards my mother and finally they separated. Although my grandmother took care of me, I always felt a void due to the lack of love and affection from my parents.

For a large part of my adolescence, the traumas of my childhood took over my life with resentment and little by little I lost hope of finding a way out. Then I met Jesus in Young Life in 2017, that was when I first felt the love I needed. I struggled to maintain a relationship with Jesus amidst the problems, but over time I began to feel how Jesus changed my way of thinking and acting. I forgave my dad before his death and sometime later the relationship with my mother improved. Now I see the world with the brightness that I dreamed of seeing, all thanks to the fact that I met Jesus.

Now, as a Developing Global Leader I will study engineering. I will have fulfilled the dream of being a professional. I hope to improve financially and thus have more opportunities to support my family. With the aim of improving myself in all aspects and being a source of pride for my mother and the first of our family to attend college. I will have the opportunity to continue sharing about Jesus with more young people. I am currently the Director in Masaya with the objective of continuing to develop more leaders and expand the message of Jesus just as they did with me.
