Shuvo

My name is Shuvo and I live with my parents and my siblings in a village on the Ganges Delta in Bangladesh. We rely solely on my family’s income as fishermen. Throughout my childhood we endured many challenges because of our finances and struggled to meet the basic needs of our family. This directly impacted my schooling and the quality of my education, however through perseverance I completed high school. My entire family has a strong faith in God, and over the years we have witnessed Him provide for us everything we need, right on time.

I learned about Jesus during my childhood through my involvement in church and opportunities to serve. When I turned sixteen, my faith became my own and Jesus became my Savior; it was the best day of my life. I got connected with Young Life through contact work. The first time I went to club, I was overwhelmed by the warm welcome I received. At camps I was shaped by all of the special experiences and opportunities to connect with God. As a leader in my community, I lead small groups and mentor teens, just as I have been mentored and positively impacted by my leaders.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying history at a local university. It is my desire to serve others and I hope my education opens doors in the future to do so in an impactful way. Through ministry training and leadership development I hope to grow in my confidence and ability to communicate with others. My vision is to bring positive motivation to my society and see my whole community grow and change. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
