Sadhin

My name is Sadhin and everyone calls me Desh. My sister and I live with our parents in a small village in southern Bangladesh. We are a very poor family often lacking the resources to meet our daily needs. Throughout my childhood, it was difficult for my father to support our family on a carpenter’s wages. There was never a surplus for educational support; I could not buy new books to study. I felt I had no one to guide me in those days. But as a family, we had hope in Christ, and through his blessings, we managed somehow to persevere through our struggles.

I came to faith in Jesus early in my childhood through my family. However, through Young Life, I have found leaders on whom I can completely depend. In ministry, I have found the purpose of life and now I have become a volunteer leader where my primary responsibility is to make disciples.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I will become the first in my family to graduate from university. I am studying engineering and computer science at a local university, and I want to become a programmer. My hope is to not only help provide stability to my family, but to help under-privileged kids and students as well. I endured great poverty in my life, so now I want to help others by building a career that makes it possible for the younger generation to have access to computer courses to provide a path out of financial instability.
