Andrea Nayeli

My name is Andrea. I am from Mexico, where the normal condition of a kid´s way of life is to live in an unrestrained way, with alcohol, smoking, going out to parties and far from God. In my youth I was not exempt from facing these challenges and that is how I lived for several years. I lived with depression and suffered from a lot of anxiety.

From the time I was a child, my parents taught me about a God, but honestly, I didn’t know him. Eventually, I got to a point of yearning for a change in my life and Jesus came into my life when I needed him the most. I came to understand that He was the only thing that was missing in my life. He continues today to work in me, and in my leadership through Young Life. I have a church where I feel that I have found my place and I feel identified and seen. My desire is to be able to continue taking the gospel to kids in my community who need the healing of their souls just as God healed me. As a new creation, my priority is to spend time with God in his word and meditate in it.

With this Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I will be able to graduate as a nutritionist, and help people have a healthy diet and improve their health problems. My hope is to help people with eating disorders like obesity, anorexia, bulimia; and also help people with diseases like diabetes and hypertension live a thriving and healthy life.
