My name is Markus and I live in Bryne, Norway. I work as a carpenter and hope to follow in my father’s footsteps and become a firefighter. I have a family that’s burning for Jesus, and that made my childhood so good and full of love. My mother is a nurse, and my father is a firefighter and a teacher. I also have two younger brothers. In middle school, I was bullied for my faith and at times I felt left out because of it, however, I overcame it by setting my anchor in the church and surrounding myself with people who truly cared about me.
My life now is an exciting journey, walking hand in hand with Jesus. I’ve known Jesus since I was a kid, Jesus sees me every day, and I seek him; everything I do is to praise him. I love my church and I am a worship leader. Young Life is not something people in Bryne know about yet, but we are starting it now because the teens here need Jesus. In my experience, teens look down on Christians because they think we are boring, but I know that Young Life Bryne is going to prove them wrong and be a place of light and joy in the darkness where most teens live.
Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying construction sciences at ByggOpp University. I ultimately want to become a fire fighter and know that a background in construction will help prepare me for the path ahead. My desire is to see the culture of my city, especially among teens, be built on the goodness of God. I hope that beginning Young Life in my city will be one of the building blocks God prepares for teens to stand on and grow in their understanding of Him.
