Shuvro

My name is Shuvro and growing up in a coastal seaport of Bangladesh was a time full of joy. It was a time of learning many new things. I used to spend most of my days playing with my friends where we would often indulge in small adventures together. I can remember those days fondly and they always bring a smile to my face. I have a large family with seven members, including siblings and my grandparents. My father is the only earning member, providing for our entire family as a fisherman. It has been impossible for my father to bear our educational expenses.

When I was sixteen years old, I came to faith in Jesus at camp. I had heard about the Young Life program which was held in our village and most of my friends were involved. One day our area leader invited me to participate in club where I saw and heard many things. From that time, I started feeling a relationship with God was necessary for my life. In that program, I saw how to accept Jesus and grow spiritually. A bible verse mentioned in the book of John was one of the catalysts for change, it states, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am studying accounting at a local university. I want to capitalize on every opportunity to grow as a leader and implement those skills in every aspect of my life. In addition to a career that can help support my family, I want to someday become a minister and serve those around me with kindness, pointing them towards the way to truth and life. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
