Wendsen

My name is Wendsen. I live in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with my mother and siblings. I am the fourth and youngest child in my family. I do not know my father. My mother raised us by herself. I have learned to be a hard worker in order to help provide for my family and I am determined to be a life-long learner, always growing and challenging myself.

When I was a child, I went to an orthodox church with my family, but I did not know about Jesus until I was older. I heard a message about His sacrifice on the cross and I decided to become a Christian. The most challenging part of my life was when I accepted Jesus Christ and my family was not pleased because they are not Christians. They challenge me in many ways, but God helps and I pray often. Young Life leaders came to my church and invited me to club. I am now a team leader for two clubs and serve at my church.

As a recipient of the Developing Global Leaders scholarship, I am studying business and economics at Liket College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I cannot attend school without this scholarship. With my degree, I want to pursue a job as a marketing manager to help my family, community and country. I am committed to being a strong leader in my ministry and community.
