Camilo Andres

My name is Camilo and I was born in Bogotá, Colombia. I live with my parents and my younger brother in an apartment complex in the "El Tunal" neighborhood, a low-income neighborhood in my city. My father is a pastor, so I started going to church as a child and began serving on the worship team when I was nine years old. I was raised with biblical values, but when I entered high school I started to drift away from the Lord. I had bad influences and friendships in my life that caused me to make bad decisions.

When I graduated from high school, I tried to enroll in college to study music, but I was not accepted. As a default, I attended seminary to study theology. It was in one of my classes that I heard the gospel message as I had never heard it before. The Holy Spirit opened my heart, and I came to believe in Christ as my Lord and Savior. I learned about Young Life during the pandemic when a friend invited me to the English club where I could practice the language and learn about God. From that day on I really liked Young Life and decided to get involved as a volunteer.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am finally studying music at the Universidad El Bosque and am the first from my family with the possibility of graduating. My dream is to improve my skills as a drummer and become a very good musician. My future vision for my ministry with Young Life is to acquire more knowledge and tools that will help me develop my leadership skills and make an impact as I minister to teens in my community.
