Ilona

My name is Ilona and I was born into an ordinary family, which consisted of mom, dad and me. I spent my childhood alone because my parents worked a lot and in their free time, they did their own thing. Looking back on that time, I can say that it was hard for me because there were constant quarrels at home, and I received a lot of criticism for my actions and appearance. When I was twelve years old, I went to a Christian day camp where I had a great time with my friends, and I attended church from time to time, despite my father's prohibition. At a more mature and conscious age, I decided to repent, change my lifestyle, and start building a real relationship with God. A big blow for me at that time was the death of my father from cancer. I cannot describe how painful and unexpected it was for me, but throughout that time I felt God's love, support, and guidance.

A few years ago, Young Life was introduced to our church, and at first, I didn't understand it, but after visiting camp, meeting the leaders, and learning a little more about its values and vision, I decided to join the mission. Now, I serve as a volunteer leader with the local team, reaching teens through friendship with the love of Christ.
I am currently pursuing a degree in management and will be the first in my family to graduate from university. The knowledge gained in this area will be useful in my leadership and team development. My team and I have a dream to open a Young Life Cafe and create a space where people can spend their time, develop friendships, and get to know Jesus.
