Alison

My name is Alison and I live in Quintana Roo, Mexico, with my husband, whom I married in February 2022. Throughout my childhood, there was family violence by my father towards my mother, sisters and me. For years, I felt very helpless for not being able to do anything to help the situation. However, I tried to be a good student and make my mother proud of me. Although I stood out in school, it was not enough for me. I needed tranquility and peace in my life and I didn't know where to find it. I carried a grudge towards my father as well as others who had hurt me which caused me to feel lonely and isolated.
Eventually, my parents separated and as a consequence I had to leave my studies. I became acquainted with Young Life and there I heard about Jesus. I went to Young Life camp and I experienced the love of God through the people who were with me. God started to heal my wounds and I started to forgive my father. I finally gained peace in my heart. At camp, I decided that I wanted to respond to the commission given by God to reach other young people who are in need.
Becoming a Developing Global Leader with Young Life has given me the opportunity to fulfill my dream of studying business administration at the Latin American Caribbean University. I want to eventually serve Young Life through administration and be able to find opportunities to help people through my job.
I love to serve and share God’s love and forgiveness with my acquaintances and friends. I am proud to become the first in my family to graduate from university.
