Lidet

My name is Lidet, everyone in my community calls me Lidu. I was born in the city of Adama in a small town called Wonji in Ethiopia. I have two brothers and two sisters who I love very much. My mother and father both work as teachers and instilled a love for learning in me from a young age.

I had the privilege of growing up in a Christian family and being very involved in my church. My walk with Jesus was greatly influenced by my parents. Although I grew up with the knowledge of Christ, I still faced the challenges that come with being a teenager and was hungry for encouragement and like-minded friends that accepted me for who I am. Walking closely and being mentored by my Young Life leader was the greatest gift I received as a teenager. My faith and character were strengthened as a result and I learned how to truly give my life away by watching them. Now, I am dedicated and passionate about serving lost kids as a volunteer leader in my community and am blessed to be an example to the teens in my club.

I am currently studying accounting and finance at Unity University. As a Developing Global Leader, my greatest desire is to develop more leaders who can journey with teenagers, the same way my leaders journeyed with me. I hope to encourage, train, and inspire more leaders as a DGL student and shine the light of God to generations beginning with the teens in my community.
