Manuel

Manuel is friendly and hard-working young man from a large city in southern Bangladesh. Manuel shares, “his greatest trial was to overcome the influence of his peers and the temptation to walk with them along a disparaging path.” The son of a fisherman, Manuel’s family has recently encountered a great financial blow as his father, the sole breadwinner, has become ill and unable to work. Manuel, the eldest child, has recognized his strength under pressure and is helping take on the responsibility of providing for his family.

Though raised in a Christian family, Manuel regrets that he didn't receive Jesus from his childhood. However, when he got involved with Young Life after an invitation to camp, everything began to change. He welcomed the love of Jesus into His life and began surrounding himself with people who pursued him and spurred him towards a full life. Eventually, Manuel became a leader himself and began inviting others to hear the good news.

Studying business and economics at a local university, the Developing Global Leaders scholarship helps him pursue his dream to become the first in his family to graduate from university. His vision, ultimately is to work for the kingdom of God and enlighten those who have not yet known the light of the Lord.
