Tereja

Tereja is a young woman from India and the daughter of loving parents who faced great financial stress and desperation. At the age of ten, her parents made the difficult decision to send her to live with her uncle in Bangladesh, knowing Tereja would find greater opportunities for her well-being as well as advancement in her education. Profoundly impacted by this transition, Tereja can now look back and accept the challenges she overcame as a grace in her life.

Living in the home of her uncle, Tereja was surrounded by a Christ-loving family. When she had the opportunity to attend Young Life camp, she felt supported like never before and was able to “overcome her burdens and receive Jesus. God changed her life forever.” Tereja’s faith continued to grow through Bible study and she eventually became a Young Life leader in her community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, Tereja is attending a local university and studying political science. Though this field of study was assigned to her, she sees that it will prepare her for the future. She is inspired to be a life-long learner and open to however God wants to lead her. As a part of the DGL program, Tereja expresses a desire to learn how to share the Gospel in a loving and compelling way and is motivated to grow in her leadership skills. Tereja will be the first in her family to graduate from university.
