Yitbarek

My name is Yitbarak and I was born and raised in a village called Holeta in central Ethiopia. I was raised by my mother and did not have the chance to meet my father. Life was very challenging for my siblings and I growing up with my mother as our only source of provision. One of the greatest challenges was paying my school fees. I loved attending school for many reasons, but mostly because I relied on the food offered in school. My performance and love for school was constantly affected by being sent home for lack of school fees. With much struggle, I was able to complete my high school education.

My walk with God started when I was a very young boy. My mother ensured that we were part of a local church and participated in church activities, including being a worship leader today. My passion to serve kids in church drew me into becoming a Young Life leader as I wanted to find more ways to reach the unchurched kids in my community. Being able to share Jesus and my daily life with teens is a gift to me and I hope to be a good role model to my community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I am hopeful to fulfill my greatest dream of working in a managerial position with the opportunity to influence others for good. I am currently enrolled at the Harambee University, studying business. I hope to take up leadership positions and help solve problems in my country and my community while reaching more kids with the good news of the Gospel.
