Ganaa

Gantsetseg, whose friends call her Ganaa, is from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Life for Ganaa was very difficult; she shares that she was “born with a disability and was unsatisfied and cried a lot as a child. When I was a child, my growth stopped and I looked like a child. Strangers on the street would look at me and start laughing and bullying me for my appearance.” Ganaa was shy and couldn't communicate with others and only spoke to her family. Tragically, Ganaa’s brother died when she was nine, devastating the family and compounding Ganaa’s struggle to communicate with others.

One year later, a Young Life Capernaum staff person came to Ganaa’s home to inquire about her needs. He invited her to a Capernaum meeting where she first heard about God. Although she did not believe at first, she continued going to club and over time came to “believe in God with all her heart.” Ganaa’s life changed completely as she learned to overcome her struggles with God’s strength and received herself as beautifully created by God. As a volunteer leader with Young Life, Ganaa has overcome her shyness and is learning to share boldly with others about Jesus and the work of God in her life.

Now a Developing Global Leaders scholarship recipient, Ganaa is pursuing her unfathomable dream of graduating from university. She is studying psychology at the National University of Mongolia and wants to walk alongside people and help those who are struggling in their heart. Ultimately, Ganaa’s future goals are to successfully complete her degree, to glorify God with her life, and to share the gospel with many people as possible. Ganaa will be the first in her family to graduate from university.
