Ephrem

My name is Ephrim. I live with my family in Addis Ababa, the sprawling capital city of Ethiopia. My family has endured great adversity due to poverty in spite of our combined efforts to help provide for the family. I often was unable to attend school due to my need to work as a day laborer. These struggles instilled a willingness to work hard as well as an appreciation for the opportunity to complete high school. Above all, I have learned the virtue of patience which has enabled me to persevere.

As a child I was raised in the church, but it wasn’t until I was introduced to Young Life that I truly caught a vision for the way God wanted to use me in the lives of others. Young Life has changed how I view my life and helped me to grow in my relationship with God.

As a Developing Global Leader, I am pursuing my passion to further develop my country as an engineer by earning a degree at General Wingate University. By giving back through my acquired knowledge, leadership skills, and professional development, I will bring my country, community and family one step further ahead and live as an example of hope for the future.
