Martha

My name is Martha, but I go by the nickname Martina. I live with my parents and younger siblings in Arba Minch, a large city in southern Ethiopia. My family is blessed and born again and my childhood memories resound with joyfulness and love. The loving influence of my grandparents caused me to be a very excited and joyful child.

I met Jesus as a child because my parents were born-again Christians. I have always had a heart for others, especially young women, to know the hope of being loved by God. When I met my Young Life leader, she helped me see how I could be a part of Young Life in order to reach more young people in my community.

Now, a Developing Global Leader, I have the opportunity to be the first person in my family to attend a university. My lifelong interest in technology helped me decide to earn a degree in computer science and information technology at TVT Arba Minch. My country needs more IT professionals and I want to contribute to the further development and accessibility of technology in my country.
