Buzayew

My name is Buzayew Getachew and I live in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with my mother. I am an only child and have never had a relationship with my father; my mother sacrificially carried the full weight of responsibility to raise me. When I was little, I found great joy in painting pictures, a gift and a creative outlet I still enjoy to this day.

Though I attended an orthodox church with my mother on Sundays, I was never told about Jesus or His love for me. Through a visiting ministry called Grace for All, I was introduced to Young Life. I was very happy from the moment I met them and was deeply influenced by their Bible study, games, and music. I became involved in a church and learned about God through their discipleship program. In spite of my family and those around me not supporting me and challenging my faith, I have continued to grow by prayer and the grace of God. I am a key Young Life leader and oversee a club in my community.

Now a Developing Global Leader, I attend CPU College and am pursuing a degree in engineering and computer science. I love my field of study because it is a new way to creatively express myself and is an area of growth and opportunity in my country. My community needs professionals in modern communication technology. I am committed to do my best and be a strong leader in my family and community. I will be the first person in my family to graduate from university.
